A co-worker is being bullied at the moment. Everyone knows, and its really terrrible for them but is there anything you can do? She plans on quitting but that doesn't seem fair.

Its great that you're concerned about your co-worker and looking for answers. Bullying is obviously a tough thing to deal with in the workplace- the job is often stressful enough! The law is a bit ambiguous about how it can be solved. Basically the employee is supposed to let the employer know with the employer acting to solve the issue. This can be problematic in all sorts of ways!! A good thing to do to start would be to document what is happening. Be specific. Keep this in a safe place. If the employer does nothing to stop the bullying you may be able to file a personal grievance. Check out some more info here: www.dol.govt.nz/er/services/law/case/themes/2009-08-workplace-bullying.aspIf you need any more support please let us know.

If you have concerns and trust your boss it would be good to let them know. It is their job to make sure the workplace is safe for everyone
